Personal Life of Akash Malik
Akash’s journey started when his friends called him to a field where he saw kids aiming at a target with arrows. “Mujhe Laga mein kuchh Kar Sakta hoon (he thought he could do something and add more),” he said. Akash’s father Narender Malik, was a farmer who grows Wheat and Rice and, never wanted Akash to join him in the plow fields.
Initially, his parents don’t allow him to take the sport me as they wanted him to take up a government job. But soon after he started winning medals they have started supporting him. His next move is towards Olympics
“Now I’ve to put in more effort and hope to qualify for the Tokyo Olympics in 2020,” he added.
Akash took up archery when he was six years as his coach Manjeet Malik, picked him during a selection trial. He identified his calm and composed nature of Akash and trained Akash Malik Wiki

Achievements and Medals of Akash Malik
Akash was part of the recurve boys team which won a gold medal at the mini national (under-14) archery championship in Vijayawada In 2014.
Gold in the Youth Olympics qualifying event in 2017.
Gold at Asia Cup Stage-I
Two bronze in Asia Cup Stage-II
silver and a bronze in the South Asian championship, in 2017.
Path Towards Glory
Seeded fifth after qualification, Akash was not consistent in the clash with the 15th seed Cowles, who was very much consistent and shot only 10’s and 9’s.
Both the archers shot four perfect 10s, in first 4 set but Akash’s two wayward 6s in the first and the third set proved to be decisive.
Making a solid start to the final, with 10 points, later he shot a 6 in his second arrow and ended up with another perfect 10.
The American, remained consistent with scores of 10, 9, 9 to take the first set 28-26. In the second set, Cowles shot two 10s and a 9 in the second set to win it 29-27
Under an enormous pressure in the third set, Akash shot six and ended up with Silver.
Malik completed with two 10s but Cowles remained steady and sealed the issue 28-26 in the third set
“I have trained hard in the windy climate, but here it was too much. I was waiting for an opportunity but Cowles was stronger and doesn’t give any chance,” Akash added
