Childhood and growing years

Abraham Lincoln was born to Nancy Lincoln and Thomas Lincoln in the year February 12, 1809 and he was born in the log cabin in Kentucky. He was very determined person and has gained a good fame in the society. He had an elder sister Sarah and the brother Thomas. Because of some disputes of their land they have moved to Perry county and there they lived in the crude shelter and even gained a small plot for farming.

His mother Nancy died when she was of age 34 and this event has disturbed Lincoln a lot. He was 9 years old when his mother died. After the death of Nancy, Thomas got married to Sarah Bush who has three children and she was a widow. Sarah was a strong woman and the Abraham got easily habituated to this woman. Because of the encouragement that is given by Sarah, Abraham was able to read. He struggled a lot to gain some books for reading. He used to walk many miles to get a single book. The complete family was habituated to read bible and Abraham had interest in reading the popular books at that time.

Lincoln spent very less time in schooling and at that time the books and paper were in scarce so he used to solve all the arithmetic problems on the board and cleaned it with the knife and used it repeatedly. AT the age of 17 he had an ambition to become as a lawyer. He walked many miles to see the work of the lawyers in the courthouse. He used to watch every moment and expression of every lawyer and used to reiterate all the things that he has seen in the courtroom. At the age of 21 he travelled to Illionis and has done farming for about one year. He joined several jobs and he enhanced his skills through the experience that he gained through these jobs. He worked as a shopkeeper, postmaster and even as a surveyor.  But his ambition was to become as a lawyer. He still wanted to be a lawyer. He even sacrificed his sleep to study. He borrowed several books from their friends and neighbors. He passed the examination for the lawyer in 1936 and has fulfilled his ambition of a lawyer.

After becoming as a lawyer, he has been elected for the Illinois legislature. Since he was a lawyer he was good at public speeches and even had good skills of debating. He has skills to talk before large audience and in some cases he used to talk for several hours before the public. He successfully completed the examination and started the law practice in the John T. Stuart law firm. After starting the law practice he planned to marry Anne Rutledge. But before they got married, Anne died because of the typhoid fever.
Lincoln was succeeded as a lawyer and this success has brought several clients at his work. He was also involved in the criminal cases. In 1842 Lincoln married Mary Todd who was well educated woman. They had 4 children but one son reached the adulthood.

Claim to fame

Lincoln was very strong and at the same time he was a skilled person. In 1830 they moved back to the Illinois. In Illinois he worked as the shopkeeper, store owner and even as the post master. While working in these professions, he gained enough social skills and he was good at story telling. This skill made him popular locally. In 1832, he was elected as the captain for the Black hawk war. Though he was unable to save enough money, but he had gained much contact with the political leaders.
This leader ship in the black hawk war was the beginning of the political career for the Lincoln and he was elected as a member of Whig party in the Illinois state legislature. He concentrated much on the economic development of the country and fought against the slavery. After this he accomplished in completion of his ambition of becoming an lawyer nd started his law practice and concentrated on the same.

The Abraham Lincoln showed zeal in participating in politics in 1854 when the government has decided the territories and the states to decide about the slavery. Since he was much moved with the slavery, he showed interest in joining the politics and joined in the Republican Party in the year 1856. Later Lincoln was involved in the national politics, and the legislation of the Illinois has decided to support Lincoln for presidency. In 1860 he was nominated for the presidency and his first speech was at the cooper union which is in the Newyork. He gained much popularity from the antislavery states and his opposition as against Douglas. Later Lincoln has been elected with the minority of popular votes.

In 1861, there was the beginning of the civil war and the president immediately suspended the habeas corpus and issued a summons to the military. He had faced much opposition from the members of the same party. But Lincoln continued his journey alone with patience. Lincoln did not have any chance to implement the plans that are used for the reconstruction, but he remained until the completion of the civil war. On 14th April, 1865 he was been shot by a famous actor and Lincoln died on the next day.

Though Lincoln has made some mistakes in taking the decisions he was considered as legend and gained popularity with in minimal span of time. He was a person who has noble thoughts and even has exce3elnt political skills. You can find the paintings, architectural works and the sculptures that memorize Lincoln. Lincoln has not received any awards in his complete life but he became popular through this zeal to work for the country to remove slavery. Moreover he was appointed as the president of United States and he even worked hard to reunite the country after civil war. After Lincoln got elected as a president, he has only 2 countries in favor of him out of 996 countries. He was the only president who has obtained the U. S patent. He was the first leader who felt that even woman should be given the chance to vote.

The Lincolns speech that was given at the Gettysburg was one of the popular speeches and it was repeated often in the complete history. He was known for tearing and reuniting the country and because of Lincoln the country has changed forever.
